Janet_Murphy_8_Ender_Low_Res.jpg

Huge Congratulations to Janet Murphy and her Oakville team of Jacquie Ramier, Mary St. James and Jody Webster for scoring their once in a lifetime 8 ender.

The ladies were competing in the West End Ladies League at High Park Club on Monday and were hoping to grab a few points and end the game.

"We kind of ignored their shot rock on the four foot for most of the end and kept drawing around the corner guards" said Janet. They kept guarding and eventually we had the chance.

This was the first 8 Ender for Janet and Jacquie in 46 years of competing.

Way to go Ladies.

Evan MacDougall (Oakville Ice Assistant) and his team from the Hamilton Victoria and Acton Curling Clubs were champions at the Stu Sells U18 Tankard held in Barrie this past weekend.

They went undefeated in the 7 games they played and eliminated a fellow Oakville Ice Assistant (Colsen Flemington) in the final. Colsen and his team had beat Evan in the previous two bonspiel finals so this was some form of retribution for his team.

Members of his team are:

  • Coach: Dave Del Conte
  • Lead: William Jewell
  • Second: Nathan Jewell
  • Vice: Thomas Del Conte
  • Skip: Evan MacDougall

The Oakville Curling Club is looking for a dynamic individual who is willing to learn about the world of curling/icemaking and believe that their presence will add to the already upbeat/positive attitude of the membership. Someone who is willing to go above and beyond to assist in making ice to the highest standard.

"The beginning & end of both a game & a curling season are the most common time for injuries to occur"

www.empoweredperformance.ca

With a little bit of preparation before the season, and before each game you have the opportunity to lower this risk. This document is going to provide you with some resources to help you over the next few weeks heading into your season starts, to help make getting into the hack, sliding on the ice, and brushing your rocks more comfortable and enjoyable.

We held our 6th Lefties Golf Day supporting Food4Kids Halton Region.

It was our first time at Flamborough Hills Golf Club and with a few minor changes, I have asked for Sunday September 8, 2024.  WOW, what a course to play.  It was a long course with many challenging contour greens.

I am grateful to everyone who spread the word about this event – we grew to 80 people from 72 in 2022.

Congratulations to the Champions: Barry Garside, Paul MacDonald, Imran Mughal & Mike Shaye

  • 50/50 Winner – James Vert
  • Closest to the Pin (Women) – Trish Gibbons
  • Closest to the Pin (Men) – Derek Bildfell
  • Longest Drive (Women) – Kim Bildfell
  • Longest Drive (Men) – Paul Lavergne

Food4Kids received $1,220.00 through the 50/50 Draw and Mulligans.  We had some incredible, generous people who gave back some or all of their winnings and additional $730 was given to Food4Kids which totalled $1,950.00.

Another person who I was so fortunate to work with was Tracy Lalonde.  Tracy could not golf due to an injury but volunteered at the Registration desk.  Tracy should be working at Blazers.  What a saleswoman she was.  More people did not know what was happening as she negotiated those $50 and $100 bills.  She worked her magic and people were buying more mulligans and 50/50 draw tickets than they originally planned.  I picked up a few pointers from her for next year.

Thanks for being there… Win or Lose, Rain or Shine, You are all the Best
