L2C - Novice League

Tailored to those curlers that have previously taken an 'Introduction to Curling' program, and those that have taken up the sport in the past few years and are ready to take your abilities to the next level. Topics include strategy, shot selection, weight judgement, communications, angles and game etiquette.

Target Audience You have a maximum of 3 years curling experience within the last 5 years. You are comfortable with your ability to participate in the game and play socially, you have taken the 'Introduction to Curling' program in the last 1-3 years (since 2018) or you feel you have the basics under control and are ready to "up your game" a notch, or simply want to learn more.
Duration The Fall of 2022 session is six weeks in duration.
Novice curlers / graduates of 'L2C: Introduction to Curling' Team Registration (individual spots available only if space allows); Mini-bonspiel Saturday Dec 17 will be an extra cost.
Saturdays 11:30am - 1:30pm
Session 1: Oct 29, Nov 5, 12, 26 and Dec 3, 10
*No curling on Nov 19
Itinerary: Skills development will be reviewed on week 1 and week 5. Weeks 2, 3 4 and 6 will include a 15 minutes discussion of the Topic of the Week and 1.5 hours playing a game with instructors on the ice with you. Post-game socializing with your team and opposition is encouraged.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. OCC Membership not required. Priority will be given to those that have recently completed the 'Introduction to Curling' program (previous years).

Wear warm and comfortable clothes that are easy to bend and stretch in (jeans are not recommended). Please bring:

  • a CLEAN pair of indoor running shoes free of any rocks, dirt, dust, debris
  • gloves (preferably leather)
  • CSA approved helmets (Curling, hockey or snowboarding) are recommended
  • all other equipment is provided for you.

Each Participant must have received two doses of Health Canada approved Covid vaccine (any combination of two vaccines is acceptable) at least 14 days prior to the event.
Proof of vaccination for each participant must be shown at the door.
