Food drive of non-perishable goods in conjunction with the Jerry Sproat bonspiel.

In conjunction with the upcoming Jerry Sproat Senior Men’s Bonspiel, we are inviting all members to help support those in need in our community by bringing a non-perishable food item to the club.

There is a collection bin located in the lounge, ready to receive your donations.

Suggested items include:

  • Canned vegetables, fruit, soup, and beans
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Rice and cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned meat or fish

(Kindly ensure items are unopened and not expired.)

Your generosity can make a meaningful difference to individuals and families facing food insecurity. As we come together for great curling and fellowship, let’s also come together in the spirit of community support.

Please give freely and graciously — every item helps.

Thank you for your kindness and support.

Get ready to keep the good curling vibes rolling all summer long! Oakville Curling Club’s Summer League Registration opens April 1st for all curlers, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back for another season of fun, friendly competition, and great nights at the club.

Once again, we’re offering both Recreational and Competitive leagues, so whether you’re coming for laughs, learning, and a social game—or you’re ready to bring the heat—there’s a league for you. Competitive players will compete for $50 per game ($25 per game for Doubles), adding a little extra excitement to every draw.

Have a favourite night? Pick your night and lock in your spot early—spaces go fast. And for our returning members, you’ll have a two-week priority window to secure your spot from last season before remaining spots open up to everyone.

Let’s make it a summer of great shots, great people, and even better memories—see you on the ice!

Oakville’s Ready to Rock: We’re Hosting the Ontario Senior Provincials! 🥌

Oakville Curling Club members—get ready for an absolutely electric week at our home club.

We’re thrilled to announce that the Oakville Curling Club is playing host to the Ontario Senior Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships—an event that brings together some of the greatest senior curlers Canada has to offer. If you love big shots, big strategy, and bigger moments, this is the championship you’ll want to see in person. It’s going to be a true spectacle, right here in Oakville.

Championship Curling, Right in Our House

There’s something special about watching top-level curling live. You’ll feel the intensity in the building, see the precision up close, and catch all the little details that don’t always translate on screen—the quiet team chatter, the perfectly judged weight, the sweep calls that turn good into great.

Whether you’re a lifelong curler or just love being around the game, this event is a fantastic chance to:

  • Watch elite senior teams battle it out end-to-end
  • Cheer on incredible athleticism, experience, and shot-making
  • Enjoy the buzz of a packed club and championship atmosphere

Record Representation from Oakville!

And here’s the part that makes it even sweeter: we have outstanding Oakville Curling Club representation in the field.

This year, Oakville is showing up in a big way with a record 5 men and 5 women competing in the championship. That’s right—ten of our very own members are out there on the provincial stage wearing the OCC pride. Make sure you come out, bring your loudest (respectful!) cheer, and help create that home-ice advantage.

Curling by Day, Entertainment by Night 🎶

This isn’t just great curling—it’s also a full-on club celebration.

After the daytime action, the club will keep the energy rolling with evening entertainment on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, featuring:

  • Glenn Groves
  • Stevie “O”
  • Dear Abbey & Orphan George

So even if you can’t catch every draw, come by in the evening, take in the atmosphere, enjoy the music, and be part of a championship week that’s going to feel like a festival at the club.

Come Spectate, Come Socialize, Come Celebrate

All members (and friends of the club) are welcome to:

  • Drop in to spectate
  • Enjoy a beverage or two
  • Soak up the excitement
  • Support our Oakville teams
  • Experience championship curling up close

Bring your curling friends, bring your neighbours, bring someone who’s never watched before—this is the kind of event that turns first-timers into fans.

Let’s pack the club, make some noise, and show Ontario what Oakville Curling Club spirit looks like. See you at the rink! 🥌🍻 Highlighted names are members of the Oakville Curling Club.

As we prepare to welcome teams and guests for the week of the Senior Men’s and Women’s Provincials, we’re hoping to ask for the Club’s help with a small but important need.

For that week, we require access to 16 men’s lockers and 16 women’s lockers for visiting competitors. If you are willing to donate the use of your locker for the week, it would make a meaningful difference in helping us host a smooth, comfortable, and well-organized event.

If you’re able to lend your locker, please send a note to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. :

  • Your name
  • Locker number (if applicable)
  • Whether it’s a men’s or women’s locker

Your generosity and support are deeply appreciated—we would truly be forever in your debt. Thank you for helping Oakville Curling Club put its best foot forward as we host this special championship week.

LAUGH OF THE WEEK:

Knock, Knock.
Who’s there?
Omar.
Omar who?
Omar gosh, it’s November already!

STUFF THAT MAKES US CURL BETTER:

Etiquette
  • Shake hands at the start and end of each game, and be respectful of your opponents. Don't distract the other team, and don't stand in front of a player who's about to throw.
Speed of play
  • Try to start the game on time, and keep the game moving. Get ready to throw as soon as your opponent releases their stone, and clean your rock while they glide to a stop.
Sweeping
  • Be ready to sweep as soon as your teammate releases their stone. Sweepers should stay between the hog lines when not sweeping.

THANK YOU KELLY BREARD FOR SUGGESTING!

Send me your curling play of the week.  What shot was incredible?  What did you find amazing during your last game?

I will also share big game play video when I can!  I bet the league would love your stories though…..

You are receiving this email because we made a clerical error in our online registration set-up process this year. Those members that registered and paid prior to July 1st were affected by this error.

You were not charged HST on your prize levy, which you should have been. We apologize for this error and any inconvenience it may have caused you.

The challenge for us now is our system has put accounts on hold until the balance is paid. This means that you will not be able to book practice ice or book make-up ice.

The outstanding balances are between $3.00 and $13.00 depending on how many leagues you registered for. We apologize if this has affected you in any way.

To rectify, kindly click the following link to view your invoice and submit payment: Oakville Curling Club Invoice. You will need to log into the site.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to either Casey or me directly.

Warmest Regards

Ian Tetley

A big hello to all Weekend Mixed curlers. With Andrew moving on to assume the VP role on the OCC Board, I wanted to introduce myself as your new convenor and representative on the Board. Jan and I have curled in this league since 1997 and look forward to helping carry on the fun and fellowship we have experienced over the years.

Here are a few things you will want to know to plan for the coming year:

  • Opening weekend will be Oct 18/19
  • Draw 2 will include the weekend of Dec 20/21 and start up again on the January 10/11 weekend
  • For those long-range planners, the Championship Weekend has been scheduled for April 4-6, 2025
  • Based on feedback from the year end survey about the dreaded Saturday 9:00 PM slot, note that the club has revised Saturday draw times to 3:30pm, 5:45pm and 8:00 PM. Friday ice times will remain the same at 6:40 and 9:00 PM.

Registration has been robust with several newcomers joining the league. For those signed up as individuals or as a couple, over the next several weeks as other registrations roll in I’ll do my best to help you find a suitable team to enjoy the year with. If you haven’t already done so, please reach out to me with any information or requests that might help that process along. I’m also planning to have a Weekend Mixed table set up at the Open House on Sept 22nd to greet old friends and welcome newcomers. Looking forward to seeing you all soon!
