In furtherance of community outreach and partnerships, the Oakville Curling Club (OCC) is thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with Sheridan College’s Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design (FAAD), recognized for its innovation, creativity, and artistic excellence, to establish the Oakville Curling Club Mural Design Challenge.
The challenge was opened to Sheridan FAAD students on December 11, 2023. The goal is to enrich the curling experience of the Oakville Curling Club members & visitors, and to further OCC’s community mission promoting student development by providing Sheridan FAAD students with a real-world experience and venue to showcase their talents.
Students (or teams of students) will compete to create a series of visually engaging artwork that incorporate important elements of curling and the Club's community-focused values & mission. The winning submission will be transferred to larger murals to be hung on four (4) selected arena wall sections within the ice shed. The winner(s) will receive a prize award and artistic credit displayed alongside the murals.
The Club is looking to establish a National Sports Trust Fund (NSTF) project that accepts corporate & member donations for this initiative. As with all NSTF projects, members will receive a tax receipt and the Club is pleased to announce that qualifying contributors will have their names appear as sponsors alongside the arena murals.
