Get to Know your WNL teams:

Team Wylie

 Kerra Wylie team

Who are the members of your team and how long have you been curling and maybe how you started curling together??

Skip:  Kerra Wylie

Vice:  Johanne Boivin

Second: Sharon Bishop

Lead:  Sandra Olmsted

Kerra and Jo took the Learn To Curl in fall 2018 with our husbands and caught the bug!  Sharon and Sandra, friends from Queen's university just a few short years ago 😉 took the Learn to Curl not long before that.  We are a new team this year, with Kerra and Jo trying on the skip and vice roles for the first time.

Best curling memory together….We do mostly enjoy every game, but C Division where we started is more of a confidence booster than B Division where we had the fortune/misfortune to hang out for the mid season! However, we treat each game as a learning and growing experience and an opportunity to meet other women curlers while having our drinks paid for generously by the winning teams!!

What would you like the other WNL members to know about your team?

We are happy to come out, play our best, have a ton of fun, and meet all other WNL members who are out doing the same...even when we are half asleep every other week at 9 p.m.!

What is your team’s favourite food? Or favourite place to eat?  Any curling talent deficits on the part of our team are more than made up for by our enjoyment of courtesy drinks and a potluck buffet! Sharon's savoury shortbreads and Sandra's cheese & salami cups were a hit with our table, the bar staff and the ice maintenance staff in January!  And if you've ever had Jo's sucre a la creme (maple fudge) you would think you'd died and gone to heaven!!  Can't wait for the end of season buffet!!

Better Than Sex Cake by Allrecipes

A better than sex cake made with rich chocolate cake, caramel, toffee, and whipped topping... Need I say more?

recipe 17 1 recipe 17 2 recipe 17 3 recipe 17 4

  • Prep Time: 30 mins
  • Cook Time: 30 mins
  • Total Time: 1 hrs

Ingredients

  • 1 (15.25 ounce) package devil's food cake mix
  • 1 ¼ cups water
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 8 ounces caramel ice cream topping, divided
  • 3 ¼ (1.4 ounce) bars chocolate covered toffee, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease the bottom of a 9x13-inch glass pan.
  2. Mix cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs in a large bowl with a mixer on medium speed until well combined. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Cut shallow slits across top of cake; make sure not to touch the bottom of the dish.
  4. Meanwhile, combine sweetened condensed milk and 6 ounces caramel topping in a saucepan over low heat; stir until smooth. Slowly pour mixture over top of warm cake, letting it soak in. Set aside 1 to 2 tablespoons chopped chocolate toffee for decorating; sprinkle remaining toffee liberally across entire cake.
  5. Cool cake completely, then top with whipped topping. Decorate top of cake with the reserved toffee and drizzle with remaining caramel topping.
  6. Refrigerate until chilled through and serve right from the pan.

Tips:

  • Crush the toffee candy bars into small chunks as opposed to crumbs — then you have pieces you can chew on!
