Wednesday Icebreakers to Expand to Three Divisions

IBL AnnouncementOCC General Manager Ian Tetley announced due to its popularity  the Icebreakers Mixed Curling League will expand to three draws of 8 teams from two for the 2027 season .  

Times for the Icebreakers draws are 9:00am and 12:00pm Wednesdays weekly.

Registrations begin May 15th 2026.

Registration is open to teams and singles/couples.  Couples and singles should use the Free agent section for the Icebreakers so teams can reach out to them directly.

Access Abilities Named Hospitality Sponsor of the MR.SUB 2026 Ontario Senior Curling Championship

Oakville Curling Club is pleased to announce that Access Abilities has been confirmed as the Hospitality Sponsor of the MR.SUB 2026 Men’s and Women’s Senior Provincial Championship. The event takes place March 11–15, 2026 at the Oakville Curling Club. This event is open to our members and to anyone interested in watching some of the top curling teams in the province compete for a championship title. Fans can also follow the action via YouTube livestream.

Access Abilities is an independent and Canadian family-owned home healthcare store with locations in Oakville and Etobicoke. Known for their events and charitable initiatives, they have served the Oakville community since 1998.

As part of the sponsorship, Access Abilities will have a strong on-site presence in newly designated spectator table areas that will provide a premier viewing experience for fans. Representatives from Access Abilities will also be available throughout the event to meet spectators and share information about the valuable services they provide. With curling’s growing popularity—particularly in an Olympic year—this partnership reflects Access Abilities’ commitment to supporting active living.

Some more great news for our club! Oakville Curling Club member Nathan Young recently skipped his team to victory in the Newfoundland Tankard. This will be Nathan's 3rd time representing Newfoundland in the Brier! A BIG congratulations Nathan. We will be pulling for you and wishing you all the best as you play in your home province against the countries best at the beginning of March.

This year’s Oakville Annie “Thinks Pink” Invitational Bonspiel in support of Breast Cancer Research was a wonderful success. It brought together great curling, warm hospitality, and strong support for an important cause. The Annie raised $3400 for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Curling Ontario’s Senior Provincial Championship will determine the Ontario representatives who will go on to compete in the 2026 Canadian Senior Curling Championships, which will be hosted in Saskatoon by Curling Canada.

The Ontario Senior Men’s Championship, established in 1965, has produced 12 national champions. The Women’s Championship, launched in 1973, has also produced 12 national champions. Most recently, Team Middaugh (Barrie Curling Club) became the 2025 Canadian Senior Women’s Champions.

Big wins for The Fosters

Two of our OCC curlers - Melissa Foster and Scott Foster - were big winners at the recent Canadian Senior Curling Championships. 

Congratulations to Melissa Foster on Team Sherry Middaugh who won GOLD after an undefeated week of curling. We saw steady hands, fearless calls, and a team that rose to every single moment. 

This incredible team will now represent Canada at the World Senior Championships in Geneva, Switzerland April 25- May 2nd, 2026.  Go Team Canada! 

Congratulations to Scott Foster on Team Harris who won SILVER in the Canadian Senior Curling Championships. Their team had a fantastic week of expert shot-making and close games.
