Wednesday Night Women’s League
Ready to trade the "midweek slump" for the "midweek sweep"? The Wednesday Night Women’s League (WNW) at the Oakville Curling Club is back and better than ever! We’ve refined our format to accommodate our growing community.
The Grand Opening: Rocks & Refreshments
We’re kicking off the season with our newly minted Rocks & Refreshments evening! It’s the perfect launchpad to catch up on summer stories, welcome our newest members, and head down to the ice for some low-pressure practice.
The Season at a Glance
To support our expanding league, we’ve locked in a robust schedule designed for maximum play. You can expect a full season of approximately 21 regular-season games, structured into three distinct series:
- Series 1: 8 Games
- Series 2: 8 Games
- Series 3: 5 Games
Game Times: To keep things balanced, games alternate weekly between the 6:40 PM (Early Draw) and the 9:00 PM (Late Draw).
The "Ladder" System: Fair & Focused
Our league thrives on a Points Ladder System, ensuring you’re always matched against teams of a similar skill level.
- How it works: Teams earn points for wins, losses, and ties.
- The Reseed: At the end of each series, the ladder is recalibrated. This keeps the competition fresh and rewarding for everyone.
- Zero Stress: Don't worry about the math! Our dedicated League Convenor handles all the calculations.
The Path to Glory: Playoffs
Once the regular season wraps up, the stakes get higher! Each division has a single-knockout playoff format. If your team keeps the momentum going, you could add up to 3 extra games to your season. We cap it all off on the final Wednesday of the season with the division championship games and the celebratory WNW Closing Party.
Why WNW?
Quite simply, this is a women’s competitive ladder league that gets more serious towards the top. WNW is a fantastic way to bond with teammates and opponents who share your competitive nature—the curling just gets in the way before you reach a chilling glass of wine (or Bubly) in the lounge once the handshakes are done.
