Andrew Skelton | President |
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! It won't be long before we are back on the ice and I'm looking forward to another wonderful season. If we haven't met before, I joined the club in 2020 and after only two games on the ice, joined the Board of Directors. I was the Mixed League Director for 3 seasons and Vice-President for 2 seasons, and I'm thrilled to take on the role of President at this club that has given me so much over the years. I curl on Tuesday Nights Men's, Sunday Doubles and can often be found sparing in the Weekend Mixed league.
I will be stopping by each league this Fall to introduce myself, but if you see me around, please introduce yourself and feel free to share your experiences at the Oakville Curling Club. We have been working hard on club improvements in the past few years, and I hope to continue these improvements over the next two seasons.
For now, I wish everyone good knee and hip health so that your draws are pure and takeouts are powerful come October!
Andrew.

We salute the exiting board members and thank them for the selfless time serving our club
A lot has been accomplished the last few years and these people should take a bow and be recognized for the countless hours they have put in. James spearheaded a lot of the Northside drainage, parking lot and accessibility and Greg brought it over the finishline. Sheri and Maryjane have ensured that the Women’s sections as well as the Oakville Annie are flourishing. Thank you all.

🥌 Huge News! Supporting OCC’s Own on the National Stage 🚀
Hi OCC Members,
We have some incredibly exciting news to share about our own home-club talent! Some of the finest curlers to ever step onto Oakville ice have teamed up to take on the absolute best in Canadian Men’s curling—and they are already taking the curling world by storm.
As a club, we couldn't be prouder to watch them represent the OCC on the national and international stage. Check out this special message from Past President Greg Irwin below to see how our amazing business community can rally behind Team Young and join them on their journey to the Brier!
To all Oakville Curling Club members.
Our fellow Oakville Curling Club member Nathan Young has joined fellow OCC member Brady Lumley and former OCC members Matt Garner and Spencer Dunlop representing the Oakville Curling Club to compete at the very highest level in Canadian Men’s curling. The new team is ranked #13 in Canada and #31 in the world and they are just getting started!
All 4 of these gentlemen have impressive track records. Amongst their many accomplishments, Nathan has skipped in the Brier 3 times representing Newfoundland including this past year where he and his team performed exceptionally well. Brady, Matt and Spencer have all enjoyed great success as well with former skip Mark Kean, playing in the Ontario Tankard twice and narrowly missing out in making the finals and finishing 3rd in both years.
Equally important is that these young men are all off exceptional character and the OCC should be proud and honoured that they are representing us on the national and international stage!
This kind of endeavour requires tremendous effort and support. Hours and hours of training is required of the Team and as a club we are hoping that those of you in the business community can step up with much needed financial support to assist Team Young in reaching their many goals including competing and winning a WCT event, competing in Grand Slam events, winning in the Ontario Tankard and competing in the Brier. Lofty goals to be sure that can only happen with your support.
When I say this is a great opportunity for you and your business I mean it. When you meet and get to know these young men as I have you will realize what great brand ambassadors they would be for your company. They have prepared a brief presentation as to specific branding opportunities they offer and I encourage any of you that may be interested to please contact me and I’d be more than happy to make the introductions and see if this might work for your business.
You can view their Sponsorship Packages here.
On behalf of Nathan, Brady, Matt and Spencer, thank you for your consideration and support.
Greg Irwin
