OCC.Exterior.cropped.1x1NOTE: The date for the Annual General Meeting has been changed.

The Annual General Meeting of the Members of the Oakville Curling Club will be held WEDNESDAY, THE 26th DAY OF JUNE, 2019, at 7:00 pm for the following purpose:

  1. Acceptance of Minutes of Annual General Meeting held June 20th, 2018
  2. President's Report
  3. Director’s Reports
  4. Review and adopt the Financial Statements for the year ended April 30th 2019, copy of which accompanies this notice, together with the Auditor's Report
  5. Review of the Operating Budget for 2019/2020
  6. Appoint Auditors and authorize the Board to set their remuneration
  7. Elect Directors
  8. Confirm the Acts of the Directors for the preceding year
  9. Transact such business as may come before the meeting or any adjournment thereof

In the recent Annual General Meeting Notice, we were still waiting for the audited financial statements. It was our hope that we would have them by last Saturday and thus comply with our bylaws requiring the information be provided at least 10 days prior to the AGM date.

Since we did not receive them at that time and in order to provide our members the time to review all of the materials in the AGM package and to comply with our bylaws, we will be postponing the previously announced AGM date. The Board of Directors will be meeting this Thursday, June 13th to approve the new date and a new Meeting Notice email, with the complete Meeting Package, will follow on Friday.

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused with making the previous date available and hope that you will be able to attend the new date when announced.

Mark.AsheyOur good friend Mark Ashley joined Oakville Curling Club in September 2017. For someone who was only at the club for two years, he has probably met and curled with more people than most.

We are so sorry to say that he was diagnosed with cancer mid-March and passed away last week. Mark touched the lives of so many with his enthusiasm and exuberance. We invite you to come celebrate Mark’s life with us.

Membership registration is now open. Please help the club by registering now. This allows us to better understand our league capacities and our ability to accept new members.

Friday April 26 was our Evening Men's League closing night, where we held the final playoff games for five divisions. Congratulations to all teams for another successful season, and a special recognition goes to team Tetley for winning the club championship for three straight years now.

Team EdmondsonOur expansion this year to 40 teams has worked out quite well.  This has given us an even distribution of teams in our ladder.  Our plan is to stick with 40 teams into the next season.  Frank, Stu and Roy plan to revamp our rules a bit during the off-season, so check out the website at the end of the summer to see the changes.

The semi-finals were extra exciting this year with four games extending to an extra end.  You could tell that there were some close shots in the finals by the sound level in the lounge after some of the rocks got to the house.

We look forward to all getting back together next season, but now it is time to focus on some outdoor activities.  Enjoy the summer !
