Our good friend Mark Ashley joined Oakville Curling Club in September 2017. For someone who was only at the club for two years, he has probably met and curled with more people than most.
We are so sorry to say that he was diagnosed with cancer mid-March and passed away last week. Mark touched the lives of so many with his enthusiasm and exuberance. We invite you to come celebrate Mark’s life with us.
Just a few thoughts about Mark. He regularly played on Monday Night, Thursday Night, Weekend Mixed, and the Saturday Morning Open, and regularly spared on Tuesday Night. He also curled in the Summer League for two seasons, plus was in the World Lefties championship. Mark was a generous friend to all and was always the first to offer help and to spare for anyone that asked.
Mark was also an avid cyclist and would often show up for a weekend curling game after having cycled a refreshing 50 - 100 km as his warmup!
Here are the details for the service:
Thursday, May 16th
3:30pm - 6pm
The Glenerin Inn
1695 The Collegeway, Mississauga, Ontario L5L 3S7, Canada
Mark’s employer very kindly organized the event and it’s our understanding that a lot of his work mates will be going. Hopefully a bunch of us curling pals will be able to be there as well.
Anyone who would like to speak will have an opportunity to say something and that will be followed with appetizers and drinks.
We hope you can join us to celebrate our beloved curling buddy who we’re all going to miss so much.
Regards, Eric and Leslee
