L2C - Novice League

Tailored to those curlers that have previously taken an 'Introduction to Curling' program, and those that have taken up the sport in the past few years and are ready to take your abilities to the next level. Topics include strategy, shot selection, weight judgement, communications, angles and game etiquette.

Target Audience You have a maximum of 3 years curling experience within the last 5 years. You are comfortable with your ability to participate in the game and play socially, you have taken the 'Introduction to Curling' program in the last 1-3 years or you feel you have the basics under control and are ready to "up your game" a notch, or simply want to learn more.
Duration Four weeks
Novice curlers / graduates of 'L2C: Introduction to Curling' Team Registration (individual spots available only if space allows); Mini-bonspiel Saturday Dec 17 will be an extra cost.
Saturdays 11:45am - 1:45pm

Session 2:
Itinerary: Skills development will be reviewed on week 1 and week 5. Weeks 2, 3 4 and 6 will include a 15 minutes discussion of the Topic of the Week and 1.5 hours playing a game with instructors on the ice with you. Post-game socializing with your team and opposition is encouraged.
OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. OCC Membership not required. Priority will be given to those that have recently completed the 'Introduction to Curling' program (previous years).
Refund Policy: Full refund will be issued up to one week prior to program start date. Refund requests must be submitted in writing HERE

Wear warm and comfortable clothes that are easy to bend and stretch in (jeans are not recommended). Please bring:

  • a CLEAN pair of indoor running shoes free of any rocks, dirt, dust, debris
  • gloves (preferably leather)
  • CSA approved helmets (Curling, hockey or snowboarding) are recommended
  • all other equipment is provided for you.

Vaccination/Masking Requirements

The Oakville Curling Club is not currently enforcing vaccine requirements or a masking policy. Vaccinations and masking will be left as a personal choice for participants. However, we would like to remind participants:

  • to be respectful to all members/participants regarding their personal choices around vaccinations, masking and socializing
  • that when feeling ill, regardless of symptoms, please refrain from coming to the Club
