L2C - Introduction to Curling

This on-ice instructional program is designed to introduce new and beginner curlers to this great sport and equip them with the ability to execute the fundamentals, including delivering a rock, sweeping, shot making, terminology, equipment, basic strategy and game play, in a learning focused and relaxed environment. Taught by certified instructors from our Instructors Co-op Program.

Target Audience: If you are aware of the sport, perhaps seen a game or two, heard people rave about how much fun it is and are curious to learn more about what it's all about, or even if you just need a refresher before joining a league, then this program is for you!
Duration: Each session is 6 weeks in duration
Participants: New adult curlers (16+) or anyone who needs a refresher course!
- sign up as an individual or with a few friends to play together!
Session 3 (Winter): Jan 16, 23, 30, Feb 6, 13, 20
Session 4 (Winter): Feb 20, 27, Mar 6, 13, 20, 27
Time: Session 3 (Winter): Sundays 8:45am - 10:45am
Session 4 (Winter): Sundays 11:15am - 1:15pm
Itinerary: Each week includes approximately 30 minutes of off ice activities and 1.5 hours of on ice activities.
Participation: Open to the Public
Prerequisite: None
Refund Policy: Full refund will be issued up to one week prior to program start date.

No refunds or discounts for missed dates.
Member Discount: All registrants must sign up and pay the full listed price.
If you are an OCC Member as of program start date, you will receive $100 discount issued to your credit card on the start date of the program.

Wear warm and comfortable clothes that are easy to bend and stretch in (jeans are not recommended). Please bring:

  • a CLEAN pair of indoor running shoes free of any rocks, dirt, dust, debris
  • gloves (preferably leather)
  • CSA approved helmets (Curling, hockey or snowboarding) are recommended
  • all other equipment is provided for you.
