Positive Covid Cases at the Club

It has come to our attention that a number of members have recently experienced symptoms of and/or tested positive for COVID-19. These cases seem to be a result of a large transmission event that occurred last Thursday, February 24th. As such, we thought it prudent to notify you that you may have come into close contact with someone with Covid at the Club since last Thursday.

We cannot identify everyone who has been infected or when they played, only that there are at least a dozen members, staff members, and household contacts of members who have reported symptoms or positive test results. As far as we know, all symptoms are mild and these people are now isolating for the required 5 days before they come back to the Club.

Halton Public Health advises the following:

  • All members and people living in their households should self-monitor for symptoms and/or get tested from 10 days since they last visited the Club;
  • If you begin to experience symptoms and/or test positive within the next 10 days, you must isolate for 5 days from the onset of symptoms or positive test, whichever is earlier;
  • People living in your household, whether symptomatic or not, must also isolate for the same duration;
  • Should someone living in your household subsequently begin to experience symptoms and/or test positive, their isolation time resets from the onset of their symptoms or positive test, whichever is earlier;
  • Most importantly, if you or someone in your household experiences any symptoms of Covid, even mild symptoms, you must NOT come to the Club. Do NOT assume you only have a cold.
At this time, we are not considering cancelling curling or closing the bar; however, if staff, many of whom curl at the Club, are forced to isolate due to a positive test result or an infection in their household, you may experience interruptions in services, such as limited bar service and/or ice maintenance delays. We ask for your patience while we work through these hiccups over the next little while.
We remind you that it is up to each member to assess their personal risk level before coming to the Club. We anticipate a number of games scheduled over the next week or so will be postponed. As such, we will be setting aside time during upcoming weekends for makeup games. Please keep an eye on the website over the next couple of days for more information. If you plan to postpone a game, please remember to cancel your ice via the website.
We also remind you that we strongly encourage mask use and physical distancing whenever possible, even when not required by public health. Remember, masks protect your fellow members and staff as much as they protect you!
