December 16, 2021

Due to the unfortunate surge of the Omicron variant of concern and the most recent report from the Ontario COVID-19 Science Table, the Club will be shutting down a few days early for the holidays. As of Monday, December 20th, the Club will be closed until at least January 2nd, pending the trajectory of the pandemic at that time.

Closing early affords everyone at least a full two weeks to limit their close contacts and book/get their booster shots, with the hope being that by the time we return to the Club in the new year, the trajectory of the pandemic will be on a better course than it is today and a good portion of members will have 3rd doses. We urge all members to book and get your 3rd dose as soon as you are eligible. While it's likely that case levels will be high when we plan to return to curling, 3rd doses are an extremely important factor in helping us get beyond this new wave. As more people get their 3rd dose over the holidays, we should see the curve flatten out in the new year.

Missed games will be made up, on days that the ice is available or at the end of the season.

Futhermore, effective immediately, we are enacting enhanced health and safety protocols for the remaining few days of curling this year. The following protocols will be in place until further notice:

  • Masks are mandatory at all times, including while curling
  • Arrive no more than 30 minutes before your game (reduced from 45 mins)
    • The bar will not be open prior to the early evening draw
  • The bar will be closed
    • Leave immediately following your game
  • Lounge tables will be rearranged and set for maximum 4 seats
    • Do not move the furniture
  • No guests, including non-playing members and children, are allowed until further notice
  • Mandatory vaccination check upon arrival using your provincial QR code or paper receipt

We understand that this isn't the holiday news you wanted to hear, but our efforts to reduce contacts at the club and your efforts to get fully vaccinated will go a long way to getting us back on track for 2022. We look forward to seeing you again very soon!
